May Day surprise

Posted on February 27, 2014.

When I was a little girl on May Day, I used to gather wildflowers, put them into homemade paper baskets with ribbons. I would hang them on an unsuspecting neighbor’s front door or put them on the porch, ring the doorbell and hide in the bushes where I could see their surprise. It was so much fun, I continue the tradition with my kids today. That’s why I love this cupcake idea so much. Because some years, sad to say, flowers haven’t come up in the northern states. So a beautiful cupcake with frosting or sugar flowers is a great substitute for an old tradition. I found this example on the blog Skip to my Lou.
